Symposium Overview

On December 10, 2014, Global Health Council will host a high-level symposium in Washington, DC to explore the multi-sector landscape emerging around today’s most pressing health challenges. The event will bring together high-level representatives from government, international development partners, civil society and corporate interests active in the global health arena.

Within this increasingly busy space, effective coordination, alignment and partnership have all become paramount to achieving success, commonly defined as the MDGs or, looking forward, as the post-2015 sustainable development agenda. However, approaches and incentives to engaging in the global health arena vary widely across these sectors and have resulted in varying degrees of success and challenges of their own.

The Landscape symposium will provide a high-level “safe space” for discussion of the challenges faced by those committed to improving global health as an end in itself as well as by those who see investment in global health as critical to global economic growth.

Symposium topics include:

  • Translating Global Alliances to Local Collective Impact
  • Strengthening Community Investment through Multi-Sector Partnerships
  • Accelerating Economic Growth through Investment in Women and Girls
  • The Role of Multi-Sector Partnerships in the Global Ebola Response
